Dave & Buster’s is hopping on the betting hype train, announcing on Tuesday that it will begin allowing people to bet against their friends while playing arcade games such as Skee-Ball.
The plan is to initially introduce this feature for loyalty program members through its app. Individuals will need to be at least 18 years old to take part, with the rollout set to take place over the coming months.
the hope is that people will spend more time and money at Dave & Buster’s
The arcade and entertainment company has over 222 locations across North America and its loyalty program is five million people strong. Lucra, a gamification technology company, will power the new software and the hope is that people will spend more time and money at Dave & Buster’s thanks to this new option.
Lucra is confident that licensing won’t be an issue as the wagering will be on skill-based games rather than games of chance. It will also be careful with the terminology it uses, preferring to say that it offers real money challenges or contests rather than wagering or betting.
