We know the above headline may come as a shock, but on the back of three bracelet wins, Scott Seiver has been crowned the 2024 World Series of Poker Player of the Year. With 17 total cashes in this summer’s festival, Seiver accumulated 4,403.85 points, outdistancing Michael Rocco, who had 3,803.67.

only a player’s top ten points results, with a maximum of one online result, are tabulated

With the new POY scoring system this year, the race for the top spot stayed fairly close until the end, even with Seiver winning three gold bracelets. Rather than counting every result toward the POY standings, only a player’s top ten points results, with a maximum of one online result, are tabulated. Thus, someone who grinds the entire series, while still potentially at an advantage, can’t run away with the title through volume alone.

These are the ten events that made up Seiver’s POY-winning total:

Event #10 – $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship (8-Handed) – 1st place- 1,078.62 points Event #72 – $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship (7-Handed) – 1st place – 1,070.90 points Event #40 – $1,500 Razz – 1st place – 961.47 points Online Event #24 – $10,000 WSOP Online Championship Event – 3rd place – 464.09 points Event #96 – $25,000 High Roller H.O.R.S.E. – 6th place – 398.43 points Event #24 – $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship – 24th place – 111.62 points Event #23 – $1,500 Shootout No-Limit Hold’em – 124th place – 99.12 points Event #83 – $1,500 Eight Game Mix (6-Handed) – 39th place – 94.93 points Event #26 – $25,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em (8-Handed) – 33rd place – 64.29 points Event #57 – $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em Freezeout – 61st place – 60.38 points Just five other poker players have won three bracelets in a single WSOP: Puggy Pearson (1973), Phil Hellmuth (1993), Ted Forrest (1993), Phil Ivey (2002), and Jeff Lisandro (2009). And with a 3rd and a 6th place finish, Seiver had a legitimate shot at five.
